FMQ Friday

Between my daughter and myself having a stomach bug, I am surprised with how much quilting I got accomplished this week.  For the month of May I have been striving to finish two baby quilts so that I can finish my sister-in-laws queen size wedding quilt by June 21st.  EEK!! So far I have stuck to my goals and finished one and hopefully will be finished with the other baby quilt early next week.

Just a little history about my quilting background.  I have always had people in my life that are creative.  My biggest influences are my grandmother and my mom.  My cousin is also an amazing quilter! With all the talent on my family tree I was deemed for some artistic trait.

Despite my mothers pleadings I have never attended a class.  She always reminds me this when we are using the rotary cutter, kindly reminding me that "in the old days" you had to take classes.  I feel that there is so much information on the web, why take classes! Thus saying, I refer a lot to my mother and YouTube, lol.

Right now I am into panels! I love them! I have done patterns, but I prefer to make my own designs.

Pictured below is the finished baby quilt that I made for a dear friend.  It was actually supposed to be a larger quilt but I decided to keep it to simply a panel.

Below are some close up shots of the quilt.

Below are some shots of the current quilt that I am working on.  I'll leave some mystery so that I'll hopefully be able to share more next week! :)

Threads will be hidden.

That is all for today.  I hope you enjoyed looking at what has been keeping me busy in the late nights.  I have begun to sketch out my quilt that I want to enter in the state fair this year.  Please send suggestions.  I have only been doing the free motion quilting thing for a few months but would love to keep doing this.

I am linking up to Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting Project.

Have a great weekend!

Unknown here we go!

Hi! I'm a blogger newbie but I am so excited for this opportunity.  I am a former first grade teacher turned stay-at-home mom looking to share my creative side! I have been quilting for several years but recently found my love in free motion quilting.

With this blog I plan to share my adventures in creating my pieces of work! Being a teacher I hope that I can help teach and motivate others as I have been inspired by so many!

I hope that my skills grow as a result of doing this blog and I grow to be a better quilter!

Please feel free to leave comments!
